Educational value of the traditional game "awale" or "adji

Sandrine Lokossou Denou
The black continent is awakening to modernism, assuming more of its history and reclaiming its heritage despoiled by colonization. But, despite the stone monuments and other vestiges of the past, many African countries like Benin, have other powerful vectors of transmission of cultural values such as the traditional game. This is why today, a real questioning arises from the infatuation of Beninese youth for modern leisure activities, to the detriment of traditional games of international scope such as "adji". The attraction of researchers in education for traditional games in a perspective of didactic tool, is greater, because they could be an excellent factor of socialization and development. The objective of this scientific essay is therefore to propose to all educators an answer to the difficulty of contextualizing their pedagogies. Based on the practice of the "adji" game by the pre-adolescents of Dékpo in the commune of Aplahoué in Benin, this work is also intended to be a source of inspiration for a real involvement of playfulness in any psycho-pedagogy for adolescents.
