This study examines the wealth creation of stock market and operating performance on the impact of bank mergers for before and after mergers. The Performance of merged banks is compared with control bank to analyse the financial ratios. In this thesis totally eight cases of bank merger are selected for the study. The Cumulative abnormal returns signify the merger announcement for the acquiring banks. The NPV of acquiring and target banks is founded to know about the gain and cost of merger for acquiring banks. The determinants of shareholders wealth of acquiring banks is calculated for the eight-bank merger only for Pre-merger period. The announcement of merger dissolve the shareholders wealth of target banks. Finally, the study reveals that the merger is affecting the market directly or indirectly based on the shareholders mindset so that it may affects the wealth of business.
