GAP (Güneydogu Anadolu Projesi, German: Südostanatolien-Projekt) was launched by the Turkish government in the 1980s to exploit the potential of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers for agriculture and energy production. The sunny region has a lot of rainfall and gives up to three harvests a year: optimal conditions for the ideal place to live. The reality, however, is accompanied by conflicts and disputes. Why does it not currently work in the so-called Garden of Eden, where Babylon once arose and many peoples were at home?
