Ethnocultural Dispersion of Assyrians in the Context of Globalization

Rose Lavo
The book examines the process of diaspora diffusion of one of the world's oldest ethnodiasporas - the Assyrian (galuta). The processes of globalization allow historically territorially separated Assyrian diasporas to reintegrate into the communicative space of the Assyrian ethno-culture. This phenomenon is described by the author with the help of the author's concept of diasporal globalization as a new paradigm of cultural globalization. Cultural archetypes are among the basic structures of diaspora culture, which form constant models of the spiritual life of the ethnos in the host communities. Habitus is an integrative expression of the archetypal. The interaction of ethnocultural archetypes and stereotypes in the process of enculturation led to the genesis of neotypes as a new form of collective unconscious, based on the construction of social reality within the framework of global mass culture. Neotypes form hybrid forms with archetypes, filling the archaic mythologization with new meanings. The book is intended for researchers of cultural anthropology and general readers interested in the history and contemporary life of the Assyrian Diaspora in Russia and abroad.
