Biodiversity Conservation and Regional Integration:

Brice Djuemou
This study gives us the opportunity to analyze the interaction between biodiversity conservation in the Congo Basin and regional integration in the ECCAS zone. This study was carried out in two phases. On the one hand, it is a question of demonstrating how biodiversity conservation in the Congo Basin impacts regional integration in Central Africa. This is justified by the fact that conservation is based on the fundamental axes of integration such as: economic, cultural, social and security axes. Furthermore, state governments at the supra-national level influence the conservation of biodiversity in the Congo Basin by setting up institutions whose policies revolve around the shared and participatory management of all parties involved. In addition, non-governmental organizations and high-level African institutions are influencing the adoption of conventions and the financing of projects to strengthen biodiversity conservation in the Congo Basin.
