Oral health is a window to overall health problems. Individual care and perception of oral health has a vital role in periodontium as well as systemic health. Socio-demographic and socio-economic sectors has become a risk factor for periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is a multifactorial disease affecting supporting tissues of teeth with a high prevalence in the world especially the developing countries. Early diagnosis of the disease prevents further progression and exfoliation of tooth. Kuppuswamy's Scale gives an idea of socioeconomic sector of the participants and Community Periodontal Index and Treatment Needs helps to identify the periodontal disease and its treatment needs in simple faster ways.
