The water and heaven choir

Anna Alexandrova
A. Alexandrova's dissertation research is devoted to the analysis of mythological thinking of Nobel laureate, Russian poet and American essayist Joseph Brodsky. It is known what a weakness the poet had for water, "for its folds, wrinkles, ripples"; Brodsky depicted himself as a fish, a hawk, always obeying the elements of both air (language) and water (time), and always as a being suffering. The life of the lyrical hero Brodsky is extremely ontological and mythological. Analyzing the formation and development of mythology of water and air in the work of the great poet, you can find answers to controversial questions of Brodsky's poetics: to determine the essence of his creative method (which will not be at all postmodern, as often believed researchers), to establish the evolution of creative development Brodsky, to read in a new way the masterpieces of his poetry.
