Following the revision of our facsimile of the Piano Sonata in b minor (HN 3227) in 2015, we are now proud to present the corresponding new Henle Urtext edition. With the help of the splendid facsimile reproduction we were able to analyse several passages in the autograph more reliably; in addition the editor Ernst Herttrich not only consulted the first edition but also a copy of a student of Liszt's, in which the composer had made entries in his own hand. Clara Schumann reacted with a lack of understanding when Liszt sent the sonata: "It is only blind noise - not a single healthy thought, everything confused." Today we view this differently. Our new edition of this key piano work is further enhanced by the sophisticated fingerings supplied by the piano titan Marc-André Hamelin. Après la parution de notre fac-similé révisé de la Sonate en si mineur (HN 3227) en 2015, nous présentons aussi l'édition Urtext correspondante dans une forme entièrement retravaillée. Grâce à la brillante reproduction du fac-similé, quelques passages de l'autographe ont ainsi pu être examinés d'une façon plus fiable; par ailleurs, l'éditeur, Ernst Herttrich, n'a pas seulement consulté la première édition mais également l'exemplaire d'un élève de Liszt annoté par le compositeur lui-même. Clara Schumann, à qui Liszt avait envoyé la Sonate, réagit avec incompréhension: «Ce n'est plus que bruit aveugle - pas la moindre idée saine, tout est embrouillé». Aujourd'hui on est bien loin de ce jugement. Les doigtés raffinés de l'éminent pianiste Marc-André Hamelin mettent encore mieux en valeur notre nouvelle édition de cette oeuvre majeure de la littérature pour piano. Nachdem 2015 unser Faksimile der h-moll-Sonate revidiert erschien (HN 3227), legen wir nun auch die entsprechende Henle-Urtextausgabe neu durchgesehen vor. Mithilfe der brillanten Faksimilereproduktion konnte jetzt das Autograph an einigen Stellen zuverlässiger ausgewertet werden; zudem konsultierte der Herausgeber Ernst Herttrich nicht nur die Erstausgabe, sondern auch das Exemplar eines Liszt-Schülers, in das der Komponist eigenhändig Eintragungen vornahm. Clara Schumann reagierte auf die Zusendung der Sonate durch Liszt mit Unverständnis: "Das ist nur noch blinder Lärm - kein gesunder Gedanke mehr, alles verwirrt". Heute empfinden wir das anders. Unsere Neuausgabe dieses zentralen Werks der Klavierliteratur wird zusätzlich aufgewertet durch die raffinierten Fingersatzvorschläge des Klaviertitanen Marc-André Hamelin.
