The history of Volkswagen AG is undoubtedly one of the most impressive chronicles within the automobile industry: encouraged by a dictator's fantasies of mass mobility, restored to new vigour in the immediate post-war years by the British with their well-known pragmatic approach, steered through the first half of its existence by the engineering genius of the celebrated VW-Beetle - within half a century this conmpany has developed into a global corporation that now manufactures its vehicles all over the world. VW AG is the parent company for four distingt brands - Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda - each supplying ist customers with a specific model programme.
