The present book, pretends to know the emotional connection existing between human beings, especially between children and dogs, starting from a theoretical foundation, which will help us to better understand our friends the dogs, based on true and experiential data, of children and pets, of the School of Basic Education, San Francisco Javier of the city of Loja, with a sample of 90 children, between 4 to 12 years of age, was used, the projective test of animals or drawing technique LADS, that allowed to evaluate the emotions, the instinctive, the desires and conflicts, of the children, without need of words, obtaining the following results: 93% prefer dogs as pets, recognizing them as part of the family, constituting a source of emotional support, allowing the members of the household to manage their emotions in a positive way. The need to have a pet, preferably a dog in their homes is evident, because they increase their self-esteem, confidence and empathy to a greater degree, especially in these times of pandemic, in which all families take care that their children do not leave their homes in order to preserve their health.
