WOMEN IN DISPUTE AND POLITICAL POWER IN PARAÍBA

Elizabeth Christina de Andrade Lima
The book deals with the disputes and mandates of some women in the Paraíba Parliament and Executive in the period between the 2004 and 2014 elections, from the registration of the candidacy to the actual campaign, it is common to encounter difficulties of a financial order, political support, and political marketing in the construction of these candidacies. It is as if the "space of politics" and the "culture" seek to signal to women politicians that this is not their niche, that victory is almost impossible and if they are victorious, they will not know how to legislate, govern, in short, participate in the world of politics, with equal competence, as men do.Such gender stereotypes, many of them with a strong contour of political gender violence and misogyny, cause the withdrawal and disenchantment for many women to seek and believe it is possible to participate in the political party dispute.
