IMPROVING THE COORDINATION OF HEALTH CARE STRUCTURES IN URBAN AREAS

Introduction: The coordination of health care structures by the health zone in urban areas remains difficult to achieve. Objective: to identify mechanisms for improving the coordination of care structures in urban areasMethodology: this is a case study that was conducted in the provincial city of Kinshasa from March 30 to April 20, 2019. In order to answer the research question, 22 key informants were enrolled in a participatory action research process, based on the dialogue model. The inductive thematic approach was used to analyse the data from the focus groupsResults: This study provided 19 proposals as mechanisms for improving coordination. These different proposals were grouped into the following 10 categories: respecting the norms of the SZ, popularizing the norms of the SZ, avoiding interference from the hierarchy in the ZCO, giving the ZCO the power to punish, building structures and assigning agents according to the needs of the SZ, leaving the power of granting authorization to open to a body recognized by all, organizing the community, promoting contractualization, giving the power to grant authorization to open to a body recognized by all.
