Most of the Rwandan refugees arrived in Cameroon in the aftermath of the 1994 Rwandan genocide and settled mainly in the cities of Yaoundé and Douala, where they enjoy good relations with the Cameroonian population as a whole. Assisted by the Cameroonian government, the UNHCR and other non-governmental organizations, Rwandan refugees have developed several income-generating activities that allow them to easily integrate into Cameroonian society.
