Marketing Channel Analysis of Gnetum spp (FUMBWA) in the City of Kikwit

The present study was conducted with the aim of carrying out a socio-economic study of Gnetum spp (Fumbwa), and to assess the supply of the city of Kikwit from the Mateko sector in the Idiofa Territory. The results obtained show that fumbwa (Gnetum spp) is one of the non-timber forest products (NTFP) that is marketed and consumed in the Democratic Republic of Congo in general and in Kikwit in particular. Fumbwa (Gnetum spp), plays a very important role as a source of income and as a foodstuff for some. The fumbwa exploited by these farmers comes from the natural forest, the access is free so that the pickers do not incur any cost apart from the physical effort that is made for the picking. The selling price varies from one actor to another along the circuit. The fumbwa sold in Kikwit comes from the Matebo sector in the Idiofa Territory ver Kikwit and this circuit is held by actors in which each actor plays a role (pickers, bicycle buyers, wholesalers, retailers in Kikwit).
