In March 1953 the Opel Olympia Rekord was introduced , in July 1957 the Opel Rekord P1. Especially the P1 with more modern body, wraparound windscreen and two-tone paintwork became very popular in Germany. In Cuba both models have survived for more than half a century. Quite a number of them are used as taxis in Havana.
