Paul Ricoeur : Making the University

Béatrice Afiavi Agbo
The complete characterization of the university, in its essential function, culminates in the challenge of numbers to which any mass institution is suspended and that of succeeding in the difficult mission of internal selection which imposes that the taste for research be superimposed on the determination to innovate in all fields. This book proposes to rethink the mission of the university by confronting current social demands with the determinations of the notion of "doing university" as it was thought at the time when Ricoeur introduced it into the articulation of his thought. The idea is to revisit the role and responsibility of the university in the training of a nation's senior executives, especially those of African executives. In the era of new technologies and hyper-globalization, it is urgent to highlight the usefulness of diversifying the fields of knowledge and orienting them according to the mass for an adequate selection of subjects. To make the university has nothing constraining but it alone will allow us to practice a rather sustainable development. The university must become a university of action based on practical needs.
