A Perspective on Amazonian Mangroves

Isabelly Gatti Rocha Tourinho, Guilherme Junior Leite da Piedade, Jhully Helen Soares da Silva
There are numerous topics related to the environment and the issues surrounding it, but looking at the big picture, which of these topics would have the greatest impact when thinking about raising students' awareness? What would be most interesting to address in the classroom? Which of the various environmental themes would cause the most significant results? In light of this, we chose the Mangrove Ecosystem. The coastal region of northeastern Pará is surrounded by mangroves and part of the region's economy is based on this nursery. The Paraense cuisine uses the main species of the mangrove fauna, such as: the crab, found in the typical caranguejadas; and the shrimp, found in the tacacá, vatapá, and caruru. We can still notice the use of clay in several cosmetics and ceramics. Since this book was just an idealization, we received the news, with great satisfaction, that the State Elementary School Panorama XXI agreed to participate in this project, in order to invest in the development process of the students and help build a society more sensitive to environmental issues.
