Negritude and neo-oralism

Cheick Ibrahim CISSÉ
Negro-African poetry, written through Négritude and Neo-Oralism, is an expedient for the emancipation of black peoples. However, poetry seems so far removed from reality that the experience of emancipation through it seems impossible. In attempting to discuss this issue, it emerges that written black African poetry, from its very inception, has faced many challenges. But it has given a glimmer of hope to black emancipation. It has enabled them to rehabilitate their psychology and identity. Negro-African poetry is a showcase for African culture, traditional values and cosmogony. In addition, black peoples are beginning their emancipation and development through the appropriation of technoculture and science. Finally, this research clearly shows that poetry, beyond being a means of expressing community visions, can be a springboard for qualitative change in social existence.
