Caulerpa racemosa is a valuable green seaweed as it contains vital organic components (protein, carbohydrate, and lipids), macro-elements (K, Na, Ca, and P), as well as micro-elements (Fe, Cu, and Co). Phytochemical screening of methanol extract of C. racemosa revealed the presence of alkaloids, terpenoids, saponins, flavonoids, phenols, and quinones, and absence of tannins, coumarins, and glycosides. Bioactive caulerpin substance was extracted from C. racemosa. Different concentrations of caulerpin, Caulerpa nanoparticles, and caulerpin nanoparticles showed inhibition of HepGII cell lines in the following order: Caulerpa NPS > caulerpin NPS > caulerpin.
