Indigenous Work Center

Luciano Araujo Monteiro
This is an academic study developed between 2018-2021, focusing on the analysis of textbooks and textbooks produced by the Indigenous Work Center (CTI), in copartnership with the Terena, Timbira and Guarani communities that inhabit the Brazilian territory, thinking about the representation that these indigenous groups have of themselves, according to the textual and iconographic content disseminated in these works and through the way in which these sources of information are presented to the reader. When we take into consideration that, in recent years, the attacks on the rights of Amerindian peoples have intensified, by means of land grabbing, the development of agribusiness in native peoples' territories, as well as deforestation and illegal mining have increased significantly, with the connivance of the government, this research theme becomes justifiable. In other words, the books produced by this non-profit institution and analyzed here aim to give visibility to traditional communities whose cultures are disrespected during contact with non-indigenous people.
