Butler (also known unofficially as Brighton) is an outer northern suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo local authority. It is 41 kilometres north of Perth's central business district.Butler is bordered to the west by Jindalee and Quinns Rocks (Marmion Avenue) and to the south by Merriwa and Ridgewood (Lukin Drive). The rest of the suburb's boundaries are surrounded by the uninhabited localities of Nowergup and Alkimos.Butler is a recently established suburb developed by Satterley, a Western Australian land development company. It was marketed under the name of "Brighton Estate", which has since become synonymous with Butler amongst local residents (despite the estate also being marketed as part of Ridgewood and Jindalee). The suburb name was adopted by the Shire of Wanneroo in 1979 to honour John Butler, the first recorded explorer of the area in 1834.
