Sein Examen legte er an der Jagiellonen-Universität ab. Er debütierte 1972 als Lyriker und gehörte der Bewegung Nowa Fala (Neue Welle) an. Seit 1972 ist er Mitglied des polnischen Schriftstellerverbandes und seit 1978 Mitglied im P.E.N.
