Memes through visual arts

Steven Choez
In contemporary times, social networks have modernized interpersonal communication and unified cultural and social aspects along with technological development. Since the development of industrialized environments in the twentieth century until entering the Internet, people have been required to think in abstract terms more frequently than previous generations setting a pattern for new symbologies and meanings, thus, the reflection of the now new collective thinking, reveals a recent communicative ramification in digital platforms that combines images with short text to simplify the complexity of the message, deriving a new need that is: to show something interesting to the public on the network to satisfy the growing dopamine dependence, generated by social acceptance and the linking of the sense of belonging to digital communities in social networks, consequently, have led the contemporary human being to generate new communicative practices in the new media in order to cover this intrinsic need for socialization.
