This paper examines the approach to Trade Remedy Dispute Resolution systems in the African Regional Trade Agreements, using the East African Community as a case study. In the framework of Regional Trade Agreements, the approach to Trade Remedy Measures can be characterized into three assemblages to wit, Measures by the bloc against third party non-members, Measures by partner states against fellow partner states and Measures by individual partner states against third party non-member states. This paper provides an exegesis of the approach by the East African Community to these three categorizations with particular emphasis on whether the dispute system established for Trade Remedies succeeds in achieving the goals of the regional bloc.
